2009 Wakagoi Show - Tosu City, Kyushu Island

In total approximately 1800 fish were entered into the show this year, with the breeders from Kyushu Island playing host to the Wakagoi Show (Young Koi Showa) this time round. Koibito had a total of 5 fish in the show, one of which one Best in Variety (Shiro Bekko from Yamatoya), and 2nd place in the A Gin Rin Section (Gin Rin Kohaku from Muto).

The overall winner of the show was is owned by Kaneko San, a hobbyist from Nagano prefecture. The koi was pruchased from Nagashima San, a Japanese dealer and originally came from Sakai Koi Farm. The Adult champion was a beautiful Showa produced by Isa Koi Farm, Niigata; Young Champion a cracking Shiro Utsuri from Omosako Koi Farm; and last, but by no means least, the Baby Champion, a 3-dan Kohaku from Oyama Koi Farm.
